The Trio of Light Forum Open House, held in St. Paul on February 9, was a warm gathering of like-minded folks sharing their gifts. My contribution was sharing Spring Forest Qigong exercises and meditation.

I look forward to more events like this in the future.

In the beginning of 2011 the SFQ guild went into hibernation. Master Lin asked for two months to meditate on the direction of the guild, but did say it would have a global or web based approach to help serve more people.

So many have put so much into the guild over the past years so this was understandably hard for some. Mary Zelmer reserved the space at St. Kate’s for three months to help find new direction and keep things active for our community. I was asked to be a part of this foundation group along with Susan, Jerry and Marilyn. Our first meeting went very well and a hundred of us were in attendance.

Change is good, so we’ll be digging in to the fertile soil, turning it over, planting seeds, watering, nurturing, giving love and light, and watching the new growth.

My second time doing this expo proved to be great fun with many different types of healing modalities.

The Spring Forest Qigong World conference was a wonderful success, consisting of break out sessions with Dr. Hon Lee and Special guest, Grand Qigong Master Dr. Effie Chow who demonstrated her energy by lining up five people (hands on each others hips) and nearly knocking them off their feet.

Dr. Chow announced that Master Chun Yi Lin will be named Qigong master of the year later this fall. For Master Lin to receive this honor made us all feel good for Spring Forest.

I was given an honorable mention for teacher of the year along with four others. So much more to say about the love and light that the conference held, connecting with old friends and meeting new.

I’ve been practicing Spring Forest Qigong since 1995 and have completed all four levels twice.

I became certified to teach level one in January 2009 and have taught Qigong classes at Washburn Community Education, Present Moment, Powderhorn Park, and at the YWCA Midtown Minneapolis.

I received master healers recognition from Spring Forest in October, 2009, and  I have attended the emotions retreat, teacher training, master healer certificate training, and the Spring Forest Guild Retreat, all to deepen my understanding of this wonderful practice.

I have volunteered with the Spring Forest Guild association, with Guild Reachout, and with healing through the Guild.

Spring 2009 Peace on Earth Meditation

On January 4, 2009, more than 400 people joined their energies in meditating for peace on earth. The first metro-wide Peace on Earth Meditation was so inspiring for so many participants that a quarterly Peace on Earth Meditation has been established. Each quarter a different tradition will guide the meditation, which will be preceded by chanting when possible.

The next meditation is April 16, and you are warmly invited to join in the experience. Let’s come together again at St. Maron’s Church, Cedars Hall, in northeast Minneapolis. This is a great space for a large group of meditators. In January there was an overflow crowd and all the chairs were filled. Please arrive early enough to settle in, and BYOC: bring your own cushion if you are a floor sitter.

The April gathering will be a Buddhist metta meditation led by Sosan Theresa Flynn, temple priest at the Clouds in Water Zen Center. Chanting starts at 7:15 p.m. and will be led by Raisei Marc Anderson, an internationally-known percussionist and a student at the Clouds in Water Zen Center.

To create this community of meditators, invitations are e-mailed to all the meditation and yoga centers we know. From there the word is passed on from individual to individual, so please share this invitation and bring a friend.

This is a free event. Donations received are used to cover the rental fee for the meditation hall.

*St. Maron’s is located directly across from the Meditation Center (631 University Avenue NE) next to Emily’s Lebanese Deli. Parking lot and on-street parking are available.
